The State of Ohio approved a tax credit for qualified donations to certified Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGOs) like the Ursuline Foundation's new SGO. Ohio taxpayers who donate to SGOs may claim a dollar-for-dollar, non-refundable tax credit on their state income tax return for up to $750 per donor and up to $1,500 if married and filing jointly (per section 5747.73 of the Ohio Revised Code).

A tax credit may be more beneficial to you than a tax deduction because you may pay up to $1,500 less in taxes. 

Consult with your tax advisor to determine: (1) your eligibility for the state tax credit, (2) its value to you, and (3) the details of your gift.

The Ursuline Foundation has been certified by the state of Ohio as a Scholarship-Granting Organization (SGO).

Shortly after your gift has been received and processed, the Ursuline Foundation SGO will mail you a gift acknowledgement letter. This letter can serve as documentation for a non-refundable Ohio income tax credit (up to $750 per donor across all SGO donations for the tax year and up to $1,500 for married couples filing jointly). A tax professional can advise you about the Ohio tax credit and whether your gift is eligible as a charitable contribution on your federal income tax return.
