Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO)
Ursuline Supporters May Be Eligible for an Ohio Tax Credit!
The State of Ohio has passed a bill that allows a tax credit for qualified donations to a certified Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO). Ohio taxpayers who donate to SGOs may be able to claim a dollar-for-dollar, non-refundable tax credit on their state income tax return for up to $750 per donor (up to $1,500 if married and filing jointly).
(Per section 5747.73 of the Ohio Revised Code.)
A Tax Credit can be more beneficial to our donors than a tax deduction. The donor might pay as much as $1,500 less in taxes.
Consult with your tax advisor to determine: (1) your eligibility for the state tax credit, (2) its value to you, and (3) the details of your gift.
How Do I Give To Ursuline Academy?
Ursuline has partnered with The Catholic Education Foundation for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati (CEF) which has been certified by Ohio as a Scholarship-Granting Organization (SGO).
You can make a gift online or by sending in a check, along with this form that will be processed by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati.
With either method, you have the option of restricting your gift to Ursuline. Ursuline is listed under the school section and can be selected as a recipient of your gift. You also have the option of choosing whether or not your name is shared with the school. Use this link to give or use the button at the bottom of the page.
Shortly after your gift has been received and processed, CEF-SGO will mail a gift acknowledgement letter to you. This letter can serve as documentation for a non-refundable Ohio income tax credit (up to $750 per donor across all SGO donations for the tax year) when you prepare your Ohio income tax return. A tax professional will be able to advise you on the Ohio tax credit and whether or not your gift is eligible as a charitable contribution on your federal income tax return.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Patricia Norton Boehm '94, Major Gifts Officer.
We Appreciate Your Support!
Your generosity provides tuition assistance that allows our students—who might otherwise not be able to afford an Ursuline education—the opportunity to become proud Ursuline students and alumnae.
We thank you and hope this new Ohio Income Tax Credit will encourage you to continue helping us educate women in the Catholic tradition that St. Angela Merici envisioned so many years ago.
