Performing Arts
Ursuline Academy Performing Arts is made up of choral and instrumental ensembles as well as theatrical performances. Students work together on the stage and as members of the crew to put on a variety of performances for the Ursuline community. Throughout the year, Ursuline Performing Arts presents the following events:

Besl Theatre
Starry, Starry Night, is a night of dinner, drinks, raffles and musical performances and is the biennial fundraiser for Ursuline Academy Performing Arts Boosters. This year we are proud to showcase the talents of Terry Wenninger ‘77. Terry has worked for over 50 years as Vocalist, Pianist, Organist and Choral Director at Catholic parishes and will be inducted into the Performing Arts Hall of Fame. The evening also includes performances from Ursuline Academy staff and our own "rising stars," our student ensembles.
Starry, Starry Night, raises funds exclusively for Ursuline Academy Performing Arts. Proceeds from this event have helped to fund many improvements for UAPA, including the purchase of a Boston Grand Piano, investment in the dance team and, most recently, upgrading the sound system. This year, Starry, Starry Night will be setting a financial goal of raising the money needed to upgrade the Besl Theatre lighting system.

meet our Theatre Director!
Jennifer Carpenter earned a Bachelor’s in Secondary Education from the University of Dayton and will complete a Master’s in English from Miami University this July. She has more than 20 years of teaching experience in English, Social Studies, Acting, and Religion for grades 6-12. She has been involved in drama programs for 15 years; most recently as the director at both St. Susanna and Bishop Fenwick. In the last two years, she directed Anastasia, Peter and the Starcatcher, Brigadoon, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Aladdin Jr., and Peter Pan Jr.
Her biggest reward is watching students’ acting skills and confidence grow. She loves the emotional power of live story-telling, the energy of opening night, and the creative challenges that working in theater offers. She looks forward to her role as the theater director and religion teacher at Ursuline.
