Dear Ursuline Community,

We want to start this email by thanking you for your continued patience and support of Ursuline during this unique time in our collective history.

We have made the decision to proactively set the return date for students to come back to the building for classes as Monday, April 20. Remote learning will continue next week and we'll make any modifications necessary as we approach Holy Week. Spring Break will follow as planned beginning on Friday, April 10 through April 17.

We are continuing to evaluate all our Spring events, based on the daily briefings from Governor DeWine and the trajectory of the coronavirus. Given his remarks, although the Governor did not extend the date for school closures, nothing was shared that indicates we should expect to return to school at the end of next week.

If we cannot return to the building before late May due to the crisis, we will have graduation for our seniors. We do not know what that will look like or when it would be scheduled, but we will plan a way to celebrate the graduation of the Class of 2020.

We ask for your continued patience, support, and prayers as we determine what the next steps are best for our students, faculty, and staff.

Sincerely,

Ramona Payne '76, President

Dear Ursuline Community,

Based on the Governor's announcement today that the State of Ohio will be ordered to shelter in place beginning Monday evening, March 23 at 12 a.m., Ursuline will be closed to all – faculty, staff, parents and students - after Monday, March 23 at 9 p.m. Ursuline will remain closed until the Governor's order expires on Monday, April 6.

We are asking students who may have left behind necessary items to email their teachers to discuss how to best resolve the situation.

We will ask you to continue to email questions to the proper faculty/staff member and all emails are listed on the Ursuline website here.

We do have some additional updates to share with you:

AP Exam Information:

The College Board recently shared an update regarding AP testing. They also sent a communication to students containing information regarding testing and links to free AP Review Online Classes.

Ed Choice Scholarship Program:

We shared with you in November that Ursuline will be moving forward as an EdChoice scholarship provider for the 2020-2021 school year. We also shared updates when the Governor signed an amendment which delayed the start of the Traditional EdChoice application window from February 1 to April 1.

The State of Ohio Legislature is due to meet tomorrow to determine any additional changes, but given the coronavirus crisis, we are not sure what decisions if any will be announced.

Therefore, we encourage any family that thinks they qualify for the EdChoice Traditional Program (based on residing in failing districts) to submit their EdChoice scholarship application beginning April 1 during the priority application period which ends April 15, 2020. The second application period begins July 1 and will remain open. (Availability may be limited for the second application window, therefore you are encouraged to submit EdChoice Scholarship applications during the priority application window).

Due to the State of Ohio shelter in place mandate, the application submissions MUST be submitted via email to Allison Parrish-Tinkle. Only completed applications will be accepted. Completed applications include student birth certificate and address verification.

If you cannot scan the completed application for emailing, please take photos of application and supporting documents with your phone and email them to Ms. Parrish-Tinkle.

The EdChoice Website has all the important details on the program plus information on how to apply, fact sheets, etc.

We will continue to provide additional information when updates are available. For any additional questions, please email Allison Parrish-Tinkle.

Remote Learning Reminder:

If your student is experiencing technical difficulties, please email or call Mr. Keith
Schaeper, Director of Technology Integration, or Mr. Dan Anderson, Technical Support.

We know this is an especially stressful time for you and your daughters. Given the daily changes per the Governor, we cannot say for certain what Spring events will go on as usual, proceed but with modifications, or will need to be cancelled. We do evaluate the situation daily and we ask you to be patient as we navigate this extremely challenging time. We appreciate that you are modeling calm reassurance for your daughters and this behavior will ultimately help them deal more positively with all these changes. We want to reassure you that we will do the best we can for our students as this situation unfolds. Thank you for your continued support!

Sincerely,

Ramona Payne '76, President

Dear Parents,

Thank you for your support on our first day of Remote Learning!

Overall, it was a successful first day with only one or two minor bumps in the road. Given the fact that there are billions of people social distancing across the globe and using digital technology to complete job tasks and schoolwork, the Internet held up well for us.

We hope you enjoyed the prayer we sent with the morning letter day and activity schedule text. We plan to have one every day to center us and remind us that we are still a strong community even when not together in one building.

One update for tomorrow - there is a mistake for the schedule on the Remote Learning Plan we distributed. We are actually on a Homeroom #1 schedule for tomorrow, Thursday, March 19.

If your daughter misses the morning alert she can refer to the Merici Mod app (http://mericimodel.org/). We will follow the schedule listed in the app.

If a student or teacher is experiencing technical difficulties, please email or call Mr. Keith
Schaeper, Director of Technology Integration, or Mr. Dan Anderson, Technical Support.
Both can be reached by phone at 513-791-5791 ext. 2216.

Sincerely,

Ramona Payne '76, President

Every day, students and faculty will receive a text alert in the morning with the letter day and activity schedule that we will be following each day. Tomorrow will be an E Day with an Activity 5 schedule.

Dear Parents,

We are updating you on the latest information we have based on Governor DeWine's press conference and official order this afternoon.

Ursuline will be closed to students from Tuesday, March 17 through Friday, April 3.

We are working with Faculty on Monday to finalize online learning plans that will be in place beginning Wednesday, March 18 for students. More details will follow after Monday, regarding expectations for students during this time.

The school building will be open Friday, March 13 and Monday, March 16 to students for gathering books and materials, but we cannot guarantee the building will be open after those days.

We plan to communicate with you daily - if necessary - to update you on new developments, and we are creating a new tab on the website named Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update that will include these emails we send to parents for reference. We hope to have the tab up and running on the website by end of day tomorrow.

All events are definitely cancelled effective immediately through April 3, including athletic practices and events, Spring play rehearsals, club events, retreats, and all extracurriculars.

Weekend events are also cancelled effective immediately, including the Spring Dance on March 20, the UA & SUA Celebration of St. Angela at St. Xavier Church on March 22, and the Mother Daughter Luncheon and Fashion Show on March 29.

Again, we plan on communicating with you daily via email as new developments arise, so you are informed. We will update the special tab on the website as well.

Sincerely,

Ramona Payne '76, President

Jill Hallahan, Principal
