Entrance Test Information

All 8th grade students applying to Ursuline Academy, or any Catholic high school in Cincinnati, are required to take the Archdiocesan High School Entrance and Placement Test.* Students applying to high school for the 2021-2022 school year will take the Entrance Test on Saturday, November 21, 2020.

The Entrance Test will be offered at Ursuline Academy as well as at other area Catholic high schools. Students may take the test at any location and have their scores sent to Ursuline Academy. If a student takes the test at another school, she must still complete Ursuline's online application and have her grade school records sent to Ursuline to be considered for admission.

*Update from the Archdiocese of Cincinnati regarding the new Entrance Test:

The new Archdiocesan High School Entrance and Placement Test will be administered for the first time in November 2020, in lieu of the former Scholastic HSPT. This test is published by Riverside Insights, and will offer cognitive and academic components along with programmatic evaluations. It is fully aligned to the latest standards, and in particular to the Graded Courses of Study used in the Catholic schools in Cincinnati.

The format of the new test consists of Reading/Vocabulary and Math, as well as a cognitive ability test. This test will only be taken by eighth grade students for the purpose of entrance and placement into high schools within the Archdiocese of Cincinnati.

The Archdiocesan High School Entrance and Placement Test will be administered at high schools within the Archdiocese of Cincinnati on the Saturday before Thanksgiving in a paper and pencil format. More information regarding the new entrance and placement test will be forthcoming as we transition to this new test.
