Admissions Events

We would love to meet you at one of our upcoming admissions events!

Ursuline allows me to be challenged in academics, but also gives me opportunities to be involved in the community, join new activities, and make friends that will last a lifetime.Amanda Hagedorn, Class of 2019

Shadow at Ursuline

Shadow Day FAQs

What should I wear?

Dress can be casual, but appropriate. No shorts, please. Many visiting 8th graders like to wear spirit wear from their grade school, or show their UA pride with an Ursuline t-shirt. It is often quite chilly in the building, so we recommend that visitors bring a sweater.

How will lunch work?

Each visiting 8th grader will receive a voucher to eat lunch in Ursuline's cafeteria. The UA cafe offers a wide variety of lunch options, including a daily hot lunch, homemade soups, a salad bar, as well as grab-and-go items, such as yogurt, sandwiches, fruit and veggies, and other quick snacks.

Shadows are also welcome to bring a packed lunch if that is their preference.

When should I arrive? Where should we park?

Please plan to arrive at Ursuline between 7:30 and 7:45 on your shadow day. You can enter through Ursuline's main entrance where someone will be waiting to greet you and get you checked in for the day. Parents who are staying for the parent coffeee are welcome to park in any of the open visitor parking spaces in the first row of the main parking lot.

Should I request to shadow someone who I know?

That is up to you! Some 8th graders prefer to shadow a friend or someone they know, whereas others prefer to be paired up with one of Ursuline's student ambassador hosts. On the registration form, there is a place to indicate which you would prefer.

If you do not request a specific host, you will paired up with a host based on the interests that you indicated on your shadow day registration form.

Do you really want to experience a French class? Or do you really love field hockey and want to know what it's like to play for UA? Or maybe you have a passion for community service and would like to know how that works at Ursuline? If you have a strong area of interest and don't already know someone at UA who shares that interest, it may be best to let us pair you with a host to ensure that you are with someone who can answer all of your questions and give you the best possible experience.

Will I get to see my friend who is shadowing on the same day as me?

Ursuline is not too big, so there is a pretty good chance that you will run into your friend throughout the day. Don't worry if you don't, though, because you will get to see her at the end of the day when all of the visiting 8th graders will gather for some end-of-day activities.

Parent Coffees & Tours

Join us for coffee, conversation, and a tour of Ursuline! This is a great opportunity for parents to ask questions in a more casual environment and experience a typical morning at Ursuline. Parent Coffees & Tours take place at the beginning of each shadow day after the students go off to homeroom at 7:50am. If you are not able to stay for coffee on your daughter's shadow day, feel free to come on another date!

Please email Ashley Enyeart Higgins, Director of Admissions, with the date you would like to attend if it is different from your daughter's shadow date.

Shadow at Ursuline

Shadow at Ursuline - we can't wait to meet you!

Shadowing is a great opportunity to experience a day at Ursuline and what it means to be a Lion.

Per the agreement among the Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, students enrolled in Catholic grade schools are not permitted to "shadow" at the high schools until their 8th grade year. Students who are enrolled in public or other private, non-Catholic schools are permitted to shadow in the spring of their 7th grade year (after March 1) as well as during their 8th grade year.

Students interested in shadowing this spring should contact Ursuline Admissions Director Ashley Higgins at ahiggins@ursulineacademy.org or (513) 791-5791 ext. 1116 to arrange a date.

If you are already in high school and considering transferring to Ursuline Academy of Cincinnati, please contact Admissions Director Ashley Higgins at ahiggins@ursulineacademy.org to schedule a shadow date. Learn more about transferring to Ursuline.

Spring Shadow Day Schedule

Visiting students should arrive at Ursuline at 7:45 am to meet their host student. After the students head off to homeroom, parents are invited to stay for coffee, conversation, and a tour of the school if they would like.

Visitng students will attend classes with their host student for most of the day and will receive a voucher to eat lunch in the cafeteria, or they can bring a packed lunch.

Parents should pick up their daughters at 2:45 in front of Ursuline’s main entrance.
