German

Each level of German at Ursuline incorporates and develops speaking, reading, listening, and writing skills. Ursuline German classes often explore the German culture through projects, presentations, guest speakers, and celebrating important holidays and events. Additionally, students have the opportunity to fully experience the German culture by participating in the bi-yearly exchange to Aachen, Germany after either their sophomore or junior year.

Incoming freshmen with a background in middle school German may have the opportunity to be placed in either German I or German II as a result of their performance on a German placement exam, which is only given upon request.

Academic Exchange

For over ten years the German Program at Ursuline has had a bi-yearly exchange with Sankt Ursula Gymnasium in Aachen, Germany. Twenty students from Sankt Ursula travel to Cincinnati for three weeks in the spring at Easter. Then in June of the same year, Ursuline students travel to Aachen for three weeks. The exchange includes home-stays, immersion in the school, and exploration of the city with walking tours and visits to cultural centers in the region and beyond. The Academic Exchange is supported by the German American Partnership Program (GAPP).
