Mathematics

The mathematics department at Ursuline Academy is committed to a core college preparatory curriculum that reflects the standards established by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Students learn the value of mathematics and how to apply mathematical techniques confidently, skillfully, and accurately. Students are challenged to reason mathematically, to become effective critical thinkers, to communicate mathematically, and to become proficient users of technology. Students are encouraged to study mathematics appropriate to their abilities, interests, and ambitions.

In addition to Algebra I & II, Geometry, and Precalculus, Ursuline offers the following Math courses:

TI Inspire-d.

All Ursuline students utilize the TI-nspire CX graphing device in their math classes. As a result of students having this technology readily available, the math department has outfitted each math classroom with a TI-Navigator system. This system creates a wireless network between each student’s graphing calculator and the teacher’s computer, increasing student engagement and understanding. Teachers can use the system to observe the progress of individual students or the class in real time, view student work, and collect instant feedback to create a dynamic learning environment.
