Ursuline welcomed back its alumnae on Saturday, June 15 at the annual Reunion at the school. The celebrating classes whose graduation years ended in '03 and '08 enjoyed a grand time reconnecting in an evening that began with Mass presided by Fr. Jack Wessling, followed by a reception in the Besl Theater.

With a new format this year, each class had a section of the theatre to themselves where they could enjoy hors' d'hoeuvres, drinks, and socializing with their classmates. After the reception, each class headed off to their individual class parties at restaurants and other venues. It was wonderful to see so many alumnae back on campus, as well as a good number of our current and past faculty. A grand time was had by all.

The Class of 1963

On Friday, June 14, Ursuline celebrated its Golden Laurel Guild Reunion for all alumnae who have graduated 50 years or more ago. The guests of honor were the Class of 1963, who celebrated their 50^th year since graduating from Oak Street. They were inducted into the Golden Laurel Guild at a luncheon that followed Mass. Each '63 alumna received a lovely gold plated charm engraved with Ursuline's logo, and "A Golden Diploma."
 
On Saturday, June 15, many of our Golden Laurel Guild alumnae also attended the annual Alumnae Reunion at the school, which honored all classes whose graduation year ended in '03 and '08.

Congratulations to seven graduates of the Class of 2013 who will soon take their love of the stage off to college where they will continue their education in their specific performing arts discipline. They all have spent the past four years at Ursuline entrenched in theatrical and musical performances that were produced by the school. Several also performed at other high schools and community and national performances and competitions, where they won numerous awards at such venues as the Festival Disney in Orlando and the Cincinnati Arts Association Overture Awards Scholarship competition. The 2013 performing arts graduates are:

• Leah Anderson, will pursue a Bachelor's degree in Music Performance (and a B.S. in Science) at The Ohio State University where she received a Music Scholarship and Provost Scholarship. She has played the violin, piano, and was a vocalist at UA, and has performed and won numerous awards at such venues as The Ohio Federation of      Music Clubs, The National Federation of Music, The Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Northern Kentucky University, Clermont Philharmonic Orchestra, and many others.
• Sydney Ashe will be enrolled in the BFA Dramatic Performance Program at the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, where she received the Cincinnatus Century Scholarship. She performed in the Ursuline production of All Shook Up, several shows at St. Xavier High School, and Cincinnati Actors' Studio and Academy; she also will be appearing as "Frenchie" this summer in the Cincinnati Young People's Theater production of Grease.    
• Megan Banfield will major in communication with a concentration in electronic media at the University of Dayton, where she received the Father Chaminade Scholarship.
• Abby Hellmann will major in vocal performance at the University of Michigan. In addition to singing in UA's A Cappella Choir and Show Choir, she also sang and danced in all the school's musicals; and has performed at St. Xavier High School, Yapp at the Musical Arts Center, and St. Mary's Church (Hyde Park).
• Jennifer Mathews will major in theatre (also biomedical engineering and pre-med) at Saint Louis University, where she received the Presidential Finalist Scholarship. She was a stage crew member of UA's theatre company throughout her years at the school.
• Angela Pan will major or minor in dance at Indiana University Bloomington. She was on UA's National Championship Varsity Dance Team for four years; and she was on the sound crew for the school's Seussical the Musical.
• Lauren Salem will major in vocal performance and music education at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio; where she received a Music Talent Award and University Merit Scholarship.

Throughout the summer, students are expected to read and complete assignments for some courses in the Fall. Below is a list of courses that require a summer assignment.

Congratulations to Ursuline's 183 seniors who received their diplomas at the school's commencement exercises on Wednesday, May 29 in the gymnasium. We are very proud of the entire Class of 2013 for their spirit, service and scholarship.
 
Their efforts were rewarded this year with 91% of the class earning nearly $24.7 million in college scholarships.
 
In addition, there were several special awards given at the ceremony.
 
The Senior Scholar Awards (the top three seniors in the class) were awarded to Kelly Kaes, Kelly Kopchak, and Elise McConnell.
 
The Archbishop McNicholas Memorial Award was awarded to Kelly Kaes for her scholastic achievement, service to others and Christian ideals.
 
The Christian Leadership Award, which is given to a graduate who demonstrates Gospel values in her personal and school community life, was awarded to Elise McConnell.
 
The Centennial Spirit Award, which is given to a graduate who best exemplifies the spirit of Ursuline with her generosity, service, attitude and overall demeanor, was awarded to Claire Hayes.
 
The graduation address was delivered by Ellen Hinkley, who was chosen by her class.
 
We wish our graduates many blessings as they continue their journey in college and beyond.
