Allie Minnis has been selected as a semi-finalist for the United
States Presidential Scholars Program. This program was established in 1964
to recognize excellence in education and the promise of greatness in America’s
young people. This is one of the nations highest honors for high school
students. Allie is one of the 500 semi-finalists selected from over 2.8
million high school seniors.
The Yale University Secondary School Book Award is presented
annually to a junior of outstanding personal character and intellectual
promise. On behalf of Yale University and Cincinnati Yale Club this award
is presented to Julie McCormack
The Williams College Society of Alumni presents the Williams Book
Award to outstanding juniors at selected secondary schools. This award is
presented to a junior in the top 5% of her class who has demonstrated
intellectual leadership and has made a significant contribution to the
extracurricular life of the school. This year the recipient is Liz
Weber.
The Harvard Prize Book Award is awarded to an outstanding student in
the junior class who “combines excellence in scholarship with achievement in
other fields.” The winners of this award, through their intelligence and
variety of achievement, exemplify Harvard’s commitment for excellence.
This year the Harvard Prize Book is awarded to Julie Hagerstrand.
The engineering and science alumni of Case Western Reserve University
present the Michelson-Morely Science Award to a junior who has exhibited
outstanding achievement in the areas of science and mathematics. This
year’s recipient is Shannon Drew
The Rensselaer Medal is awarded to promising high school students
who have distinguished themselves in mathematics and science. This year
the medal is given to Jen Hobohm
The Elmira College Key is awarded to an outstanding junior in the
top 10% of the class who has demonstrated outstanding school and community
leadership. The award is accompanied by a merit scholarship for Elmira
College. This year the recipient is Erin Lange
The University of Virginia and The Jefferson Scholar’s Program of Greater
Cincinnati has asked us to present the University of Virginia Book Award
to the student who represents the Jeffersonian ideals of scholarship, leadership
and citizenship. This year’s Jefferson Book Award is presented to Katie
Schnelle
The University of Rochester Humanities/Social Sciences Award is
designed to recognize and reward the academic achievement of an outstanding
junior, and to emphasize the importance of a broad educational background in
preparing students for a future career. Vanessa Weisman has been
chosen for this award on the basis of her scholarship in social sciences,
leadership, and community service.
The Wellesley Book Award honors young women who have been top
scholars in high school as well as talented performers in extra-curricular
areas. The Book award Program recognizes young women who have excelled and
gives them the opportunity to become better acquainted with Wellesley.
This year’s Wellesley Book Award is presented to Jennifer
Westerkamp
Mount Holyoke Alumnae College Book Award is awarded to a member of
the junior class who has produced an outstanding academic record and who has
exhibited qualities of leadership and service in the school community. This
year’s award is presented to Chrissy Callan.
The Clarkson University Leadership and
Achievement Awards are designed to annually recognize junior students who
demonstrate strong leadership qualities, positively impact their high school and
local community, and have a proven academic record. This year’s leadership award
is presented to Kelly Hodovanic. This year’s Achievement award is
presented to Joy Lao.
To encourage the development of women as leaders and to recognize society’s
need for ethical leadership, Wells College offers the 21st Century
Leadership Award to an outstanding junior. This award recognizes young
women who have demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities in their school and
community. This year’s Wells College 21st Century Leadership Award
is presented to Lauren Huddelston.
The Clement L. Buenger Award is given annually to the outstanding
junior or senior (FISC Scholar) at Ursuline Academy. This award it named
to honor Clement L. Buenger who provided the inspiration and leadership for the
founding of FISC. This year’s recipient is Erica Baker. ($200
savings bond)
The Saint Michael’s College Book Award for Scholarship and Service
seeks to recognize students who exhibit characteristics of an ideal Saint
Michael’s student, based specifically on achievement in academics and community
service. This year’s award is presented to Allison Jung.
Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Indiana presents this book award
to a junior who has made outstanding efforts to pursue the “Hallmark’s of an
Educated Women” intellectual vigor, aesthetic appreciation, religious
sensibility and social responsibility. This year’s Saint Mary’s Book Award is
presented to Marta Venturato.
Notre Dame Alumni Association of Greater Cincinnati presents
this book award to a junior who has a high academic standing, consistent
and competent leadership, and a commitment to community service. This
year’s award is presented to Maria Bergh.
The Northwestern University High School Book Award was instituted to
recognize high school juniors who exhibit ability and scholarship.
Northwestern is proud to honor the scholars of tomorrow. This year’s recipient
is Darcy Zacharias.
Each year, the National Association of Secondary School Principals presents
the Heisman Memorial Award to honor high school
scholar-athlete-citizens. The criteria for this award are based on three
areas considered equally: academic excellence, community service, and athletic
achievement. Ursuline’s nominee for the High School Heisman Award is Mallory
Naber.
The Kenyon Book Award is presented to a junior who embodies the
highest level of intellectual engagement, creativity and commitment to school
and community central to a liberal arts education. This year’s Kenyon Book
is awarded to Monica Debbeler.
The Mary Helen Gruber Egelston Award was established by Mrs.
Eggleston’s husband in honor of his beloved wife, who was an Ursuline
alum. Mrs. Eggleston loved her French classes at UA and wanted to enhance
the joy of other students of French. Upon her death, Mr. Eggleston created
an endowment which stipulated that a student who excels in her upper level
French class be honored with a check from the endowment. This year, the
recipient is Lindsay Sena.
The National French, Latin and Spanish Exams are highly competitive
tests. The World Languages Department recognizes these students for their
achievement.

This year Ursuline Academy is proud to recognize Theresa Ross as
our 2005 GGCL Scholar Athlete and this year we are proud to
announce that Theresa was selected as the 2005 GGCL Scholar
Athlete.
The Ohio High School Athletic Association asks each member school to honor
a senior athlete who has received a minimum of four varsity letters, and also
maintains the highest grade point average after the first semester of their
senior year. This year it is a privilege for the athletic department to
present this award to Theresa Ross. Theresa was a four year member of the
varsity cross country and track teams.
Each year, the American High School Mathematics Exam is given in
February to locate exceptional talent in mathematics. This year, Rosie
Elefante was our highest scorer for the junior and senior division.
She scored better than 95% of the students in Ohio who participated in the
competition. Also, Alison Weber was the highest scorer for the
freshman and sophomore division. She scored better than 98% of the
students in Ohio who participated. Rosie and Alison are awarded pins and
certificates for their accomplishments. Congratulations on excellent work
this year!
The American Chemical Society has named Morgan Graybill, Amelia
Uecker (Euchre), and Maria Widman as Chemistry All Stars. These
students participated in the first year OESPER Chemistry Exam.

The Christian Leadership award is given every year to a student in each
class who demonstrated gospel values in her personal and school-community
life.
What are some of those values? ----care, concern, compassion for others,
honesty, faith, hope, integrity. This student, by her love and willingness to
include others, takes every person seriously, just as Jesus did. Because
of these values, she is recognized as a leader by her classmates. This award is

The most prestigious award given by the Music
Department is the Louis Proske Award, named for the founder of the Ursuline
Academy Orchestra. One student from each of the vocal and instrumental
departments is selected based on her outstanding service to each musical
organization, her superlative commitment, leadership, participation and
musical ability. This year the Instrumental Department has selected Tess
Henderson and the vocal department has selected Sally Neidhard.
Congratulations to Sally and Tess and thank you for making music part of
your Ursuline experience.
Elise Turner has been selected to receive the UAMB Mallory K. Naab
Scholarship, in honor of her classmate, who was tragically killed in a car
accident during her junior. Elise has an extraordinary commitment to her
craft of singing and shares her talents in A’cappella, Show Choir and
liturgies. Elise has also spent 2 years as show choir choreographer.

To be eligible for the Ursuline Scholar Athlete Award, a
student/athlete must be a sophomore, junior, or senior who has participated in
two or more varsity seasons of a sport during the current school year.
This award honors the top three varsity athletes who have the highest cumulative
grade point average. With over 300 student/athletes participating in the
interscholastic sports program at Ursuline, the Athletic Department is proud to
recognize our Scholar athletes:
Bronze Award goes to Bridget Whitehead. Bridget is a
senior who has received her 2 varsity letters this year as a member of the track
team and the cross country team
This year the Athletic department will recognize two
student athlete with the Gold Award. Both of these young women have the
exact GPA. The first Gold award goes to Gabrielle
Soltys . Gabrielle is a senior and she earned her varsity
letters participating on the track team and cross country team.
The second Gold Award goes to Kelsey Lindenschmidt. Kelsey is
a sophomore her two varsity letters by participating on the Swimming and Diving
team and as a member of the Golf team. Kelsey finished 3rd at
the state golf championship this past fall.
The art department wishes to express our affirmation to
the following gifted students by celebrating their talent in art.
We acknowledge and award these students this evening for the level of
excellence they have achieved in their classes, as well as, the recognition won
