    Voice Ensembles

    Women’s Chorus

    ½ or ¼ credit, full year or one semester, college prep, meets 3 mods 2x a cycle
     
     
    PREREQUISITES: No audition necessary; previous choral experience preferred but not required. Open to grades 9-12.
     
    An unauditioned choral ensemble open to students of all grades. This ensemble will explore choral music of various styles and musical periods with special focus on the development of sight singing skills, and vocal, interpretive and expressive techniques. Pianists are encouraged to audition for the ensemble as accompanists.
     
    Students who are unable to register for Women’s Chorus as an academic class may still participate for no credit, provided they attend after-school rehearsals. Contact Mr. Monroe for further details.
     
    Show Choir
    ½ credit, full year, college prep, meets every Tuesday after school and 2 mods 1x a cycle

    PREREQUISITES: Successful audition (dance and singing) in the preceeding spring, or by permission of the instructor. Open to grades 10-12.
     
    A highly specialized ensemble of 12-20 members which perform a variety of singing/dancing “shows” throughout the school year. The Showchoir is often requested for off campus performances in the community. Members must attend Show Choir Camp in August and are required to purchase a group costume. Fees: $80 Camp; $130 costume. Private voice lessons are recommended.
     
    Acapella Choir
    ½ credit, full year, college prep, meets 2 mods 3x a cycle

    PREREQUISITES: Successful audition (sight-singing, prepared piece, and vocalizing) in the preceeding spring. Previous choral experience required. Open to grades 10-12.
     
    A highly select vocal ensemble dedicated to the study and performance of quality choral repertoire drawn primarily from the Western classical tradition but incorporating other styles and genres. This ensemble is the primary representative of the UA Music Program in the Cincinnati community, and on national and international performance tours. Voice lessons are highly recommended. This ensemble rehearses after school regularly.
