    Ursuline at a Glance

    Ursuline Academy is a four year, independent Catholic college-preparatory high school for young women with an enrollment of 714. The school was founded by the Ursuline Sisters of Brown County, Ohio in 1896 and draws qualified students from approximately 50 different elementary schools. A modular schedule allows for flexibiity in planning required and elective courses, many of which are offered at the college prep, honors, and AP levels

    • Students come to UA from more than 50 different grade schools and as many zip codes.
    • Typical class size is 18-25.
    • 20% of students have faith traditions other than Catholic.
    • 8.3% of the student body is comprised of racial/ethnic minorities.
    Scholarship
    • Ursuline averages 9 National Merit Finalists per year.
    • Semi-Finalists average 9 per year.
    • Achievement Scholars are 1-2 a year.
    • Between 10-20 commended students per year.
    • An average of 151 students completed 326 AP exams in 16 subject areas. In 2009, 90% of the test takers scored a 3 or higher.

    Colleges


    • 98%-100% of UA graduates enroll in college.
    • 89% of the class of 2009 won scholarships totaling more than $15.5 million.
    Student Life
    • Innumerable opportunities for spiritual growth: 4-year Religious Studies program, Mass, prayer services, assemblies, retreats and days of renewal, daily prayer.
    • UA offers 32 clubs and organizations.
    • 45 to 50 % of UA students participate in athletics. We have 13 programs and 29 teams including cross country, golf, field hockey, tennis, soccer, volleyball, bowling, basketball, swim & diving, dance, softball, lacrosse, and track. Several teams hold national ranking.
    • Recent state championships: swimming, golf, tennis and volleyball.
    • About 85% of UA students volunteer in the community at approximately 20 different sites.
    • First all-girl high school in state to build a Habitat for Humanity house.
    Faculty
    • A staff 62 professional educators has received undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral training at 40 different colleges and universities.
    • Most staff members have completed graduate work with 75% holding at least a Master’s degree.  
    • The student-to-faculty ratio is 12:1.
