Ursuline has selective admissions which means that
eighth grade students must take the high school placement test
administered at the school in November. Because Ursuline is so challenging
academically, the test is an important indicator of a student’s potential
for success within the Ursuline curriculum.
Admission is
based primarily on the student’s test score, but also on seventh and
eighth grade performance and elementary school standardized tests. After a
period of time determined by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, students are
then sent a letter stating that they are either accepted, not accepted or
waitlisted. For every student who receives a letter of acceptance and
complies with the registration date, there is a place in the class.
Although waitlisted students are often accepted, registration at an
alternative school is advisable.
Admissions
Policy
Ursuline Academy strives to provide a creative educational
environment in which young women are assisted and encouraged to assume
responsibility for their education. Admission is contingent upon the
following:
- Successful completion of the previous school year
- Recommendation from the previous school
- A satisfactory composite score on the
Scholastic Testing Service High School Placement Test
Students will be considered on the basis of merit. Placement in the
class will be available within a designated time period for all students
to whom admission has been offered.
After students are admitted to
Ursuline, their placement in classes is determined as follows:
- Placement in honors classes is ascertained by
pertinent entrance test scores
- Placement in higher level courses is ascertained
by ability to successfully complete a diagnostic test
in the pertinent subject area
All such placement is done with parental approval.
