    Guidance Classes

    Counselors meet with students in small groups on a regular basis (usually once each six-day cycle for freshmen and sophomores) to discuss topics listed below:

    Freshmen - Learning/Life Skills: orientation, learning skills, self-development, course selection.

    Sophomores - Career Awareness: career exploration techniques. Identifying, clarifying, and developing individual value systems and investigating their relationship to the world of work. Goal-setting, personal identity and relationship issues, exam preparation. Course selection. Test introduction and interpretation.

    Juniors - College Planning: introduction to the college search, resource materials and people, college interviews, visits, entrance test, application procedures, and financial aid information. Test introduction and interpretation.

    Seniors - College Application: application procedures, scholarships, and strategies for transitioning from high school to college life.
