Clubs

Chalkdust
Chalkdust is a publication of creative writing, photography, and
artwork that is distributed once a year, usually in the Spring.
|
Press Club
Press Club explores the many facets of putting out a student
newspaper. Each quarter a different component is focused on. As part
of the Press Club, students write articles, edit pages, design
pages, and edit photographs. |

Chemistry Club
Chemistry Club enriches scientific knowledge and enthusiam for
chemistry through a combination of experiments, science-related
speakers, and various activities. |
Spanish Club
Spanish Club offers a variety of opportunities to become familiar
with Spanish cultures, including guest speakers, foreign language
films, international cuisine, or exposure to the customs of
different Spanish speaking countries. You do not need to be enrolled
in a Spanish class to participate in the club. |

French Club
French Club offers a variety of opportunities to become familiar
with the French culture, including guest speakers, foreign language
films, international cuisine, or exposure to the customs of France.
You do not need to be enrolled in a French class to participate in
the club. |
Student Council
The duties and responsibilities of Student Council are to foster
a Christian attitude toward others, our community, and ourselves.
The Student Council provides a means of communication between
faculty and students through a variety of activities for the general
welfare of the school and community. |

Latin Club
In Latin Club, many activities promote networking with other
Latin students in the state as well as prepare students for the Ohio
Junior Classical League Convention each Spring. |
Teens for Life
Teens for Life promotes the dignity of all human life, from
conception to natural death, through prayer, education, service, and
social action. These efforts focus on the unborn, babies, mothers,
the aged, the mentally and physically challenged, and
adopted. |

Academic Team
Academic Team is comprised of students who compete in a
scholastic competition with other schools in the area. The format
includes group questions and a lightening round, complete
with buzzers. The questions cover a variety of academic
subjects. |
JETS
The Junior Engineering Technical Society is an academically
challenging organization for students interested in science and
mathematics. The students work in groups to prepare for a national
competition that deals with real-life engineering
problems. |

Earth Action
Team
The Earth Action Team encourages and executes projects for young
environmental activists. Members promote recycling within the UA
community. |
Mock
Trial
Mock Trial team members work with attorneys to learn about the
law and courtroom etiquette. Competitions and scrimmages take place
in downtown Cincinnati. |
Organizations

Yearbook
Yearbook is offered as a Journalism class. Yearbook members
create the permanent record of the school year. They design layouts,
take photographs, write creative captions, and assemble all
materials for publication. As part of the process, they learn about
UA’s past and present. |
Hands Across the Campus
Dedicated to celebrating the differences among people in the
school community and the world, Hands Across the Campus teaches
students to respect and affirm the oneness of our common humanity.
Within the school community, "Hands" members participate in
educational outreach to raise awareness of our hidden biases,
confront them, and interrupt all forms of prejudice. |

TAG (Theatre Arts Group)
The Theatre Arts Group is a student run organization that
promotes the dramatic arts at Ursuline on a daily basis. Students
involved in TAG have the opportunity to hone acting, stage
technology, artistic, playwriting, and stage construction skills as
well as professional development. TAG meets regularly
throughout the year and presents an annual showcase in
February. |
Peers as Leaders (PALS)
Peers as Leaders is a group of junior and seniors who have been
nominated and selected to serve the UA community in a variety of
ways. Their major activities include: Freshman Orientation, Freshman
and Sophmore Days of Renewal, and Guidance Group speakers. They are
chosen based on their strength of character, commitment to personal
growth and development, and willingness to promote community.

National Honor Society
The purpose of NHS is to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to
stimulate a desire to render service, to promote worthy leadership,
and to encourage the development of character. Membership is through
a selection process once students meet criteria. |
American Youth Foundation
(AYF)
Under the direction of the National American Youth Foundation,
the school’s AYF compact team trains and evaluates the leaders of
each organization and club. The group provides instruction on
developing relationships between moderators and officers and
develops activities that foster community. |

Spanish Honor Society
An organization that has academic as well as activity qualified
membership. They work on projects throughout the year that promote
the Spanish speaking segment of our population in Cincinnati.
|
UAU
The purpose of UAU is to represent Ursuline Academy during
recruitment and service to the school. Student ambassadors assist
with open house, the placement test, awards programs, and theatre
productions.
