Vocal Ensembles


A'Cappella Choir

 A'Cappella Choir is a highly select vocal ensemble dedicated to the study and performance of quality choral repertoire drawn primarily from the Western classical tradition but incorporating other styles and genres. This ensemble is the primary representative of the UA Music Program in the Cincinnati community and on national and international performance tours. Voice lessons are highly recommended. This ensemble rehearses after school regularly

Prerequisites: Successful audition (sight-singing, prepared piece, and vocalizing) in the preceeding spring. Previous choral experience required. Open to grades 10-12.


Show Choir 

Show Choir is a highly specialized ensemble of 12-20 members that performs a variety of singing/dancing “shows” throughout the school year. The Showchoir is often requested for off campus performances in the community. Members must attend Show Choir Camp in August and are required to purchase a group costume. Fees: $80 Camp; $130 costume. Private voice lessons are recommended.

Prerequisites: Successful audition (dance and singing) in the preceeding spring, or by permission of the instructor. Open to grades 10-12.


Women's Chorus

Women's Chorus is an unauditioned choral ensemble open to students of all grades. This ensemble explores choral music of various styles and musical periods with special focus on the development of sight singing skills and vocal, interpretive and expressive techniques. Pianists are encouraged to audition for the ensemble as accompanists. Students who are unable to register for Women’s Chorus as an academic class may still participate for no credit, provided they attend after-school rehearsals.

Prerequisites: No audition necessary; previous choral experience preferred but not required. Open to grades 9-12.
